Menengai Crater
A volcanic caldera about 12 km by 8 km, among the largest in the world, formed some 8,000 years ago. The viewpoint on the rim, at about 2,278 m, looks across the crater floor, where geothermal wells now stand.
A steep trail goes down to the floor and back in about four hours.
- Rim viewpoint
- Hike to the crater floor
- Sunset over Nakuru
A small Kenya Forest Service fee is paid at the barrier on the way up.
