Lake Ol Bolossat
Central Kenya's only natural lake lies on the plateau north of Ol Kalou, at about 2,340 m. Most of its 43 km² is papyrus swamp and wet grassland around a small stretch of open water, home to more than 200 hippos.
It is an Important Bird Area and one of the few places to see the threatened Sharpe's longclaw.
- Birdwatching
- Hippos from the shore
- Picnic on the plateau
The last few kilometres are dirt road; after rain a 4×4 is best.
